Their story
Archduchess Magdalena of Austria, born in Innsbruck in 1532, was a daughter of the esteemed House of Habsburg. From an early age, she dedicated her life to spiritual pursuits, ultimately becoming an abbess. She established the Damenstift, a convent for noblewomen, in Hall in Tirol, where she served as its first abbess. Her leadership provided a haven for women of her rank seeking a life of piety and contemplation. Archduchess Magdalena passed away in Hall in Tirol in 1590, leaving behind a legacy of devotion and service within the religious community.
