Their story

Ferdinand IV, born in Vienna in 1633, was a figure of significant, albeit brief, historical importance. As the eldest son of Emperor Ferdinand III, he was destined for high office and was elected King of Hungary in 1647, earning him the title of Apostolic King. He also held the dignity of Prince-Elector. His life, though short, saw him assume these key roles within the Habsburg monarchy. He died in Vienna in 1654, at the age of twenty-one, before he could fully assume the imperial throne.
