Their story
Emperor Rudolf II, born in Vienna in 1552, ascended to the highest offices of the Holy Roman Empire, serving as its Emperor, King of Bohemia, Prince-Elector, and Apostolic King of Hungary. His reign, largely centered in Prague, was marked by a profound interest in the arts and sciences, attracting scholars, artists, and astronomers to his court. He was a significant patron of the Northern Mannerist style and amassed an extraordinary collection of artifacts. His later years were characterized by increasing reclusiveness and political instability within the Empire, culminating in his death in Prague in 1612.
